How it started

Our client partners with the systems that support safe and effective care in the NHS. Their scope is vast and complex, working across multiple agencies. Our client knew all her team were exceptional in their field, and yet felt she was encountering certain problems over and over. She approached FiveAndCo. with a simple brief – to help her team thrive, so they can meet the challenges facing healthcare today.

This leader who wanted to invest in her team by creating a sense of identity and bringing focus to help navigate a period of uncertainty. We worked with her to develop a programme that would build a sense of psychological safety amongst her team – where collaboration is valued and ideas are heard – creating a core feeling of trust to anchor them, even when external conditions were tough.

 

The Journey

The central themes of our partnership with this team were knowing yourself, your values and your purpose. These were key for them, so they could make decisions that align with these, rather than the everyday reasons which can sway decision making, like stress and workload. We also sat in as the team conducted a meeting, afterwards we gave practical feedback as to how they could put to use the skills we’d shared into practice. The team felt supported and heard, but more than that, they spoke about being excited about the prospect of having honest and creative conversations about their goals.

 

The Future

The journey we went on had at its heart the idea of “doing well and feeling well”. It’s an attitude we’ll take forward as we continue to work with our client and their colleagues. Together, we’ve created the framework to have valuable and challenging conversations, and still manage to stay on top of the day-to-day.
